Funded ProjectsEnvironmental Activities Center at YMCA Camp Hyde
What’s new at YMCA’s Camp Hyde located southwest of Wichita? An expanded lake for one. Triple in size, means triple the fun with a large sand beach, waterfront activity area and zip lines around lake. The more spacious lake facilitates canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, swimming, water activities and a larger dock.
And secondly, a new activity center. Construction of the Environmental Activities Center provided dedicated space for activities, arts and crafts, nature and wildlife education. It also serves as a certified FEMA shelter. Expanded nature trails created opportunity for nature observation, walking, biking and horseback riding. With upgraded facilities and grounds, new outdoor features were added like laser tag, field archery, and game spaces.
Camp Hyde is about getting away, experiencing the outdoors, and unplugging from your everyday routine. At camp, kids learn life skills, develop relationships, and have fun in a safe environment with caring staff.
Chris loved exploring outdoors so the Chris Mikesell Foundation was excited to give $4,000 to the Capital Campaign of the Greater Wichita YMCA to support the building of the Environmental Activities Center at Camp Hyde located northwest of Clearwater, KS.
