Funded ProjectsKids Connect With Nature at Y’s Camp Hyde

June 13, 2015

At YMCA Camp Hyde, hundreds of kids get away from the hustle and bustle of city living to experience the outdoors. Unplugging from technology and daily routines, kids have the opportunity to play, learn and grow through a variety of fun activities, including climbing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, nature walks, sports, swimming and more.

Chris had a passion for nature and pure love for the outdoors. The Y’s curriculum goes beyond connecting with the outdoors to include environmental lessons, developing an appreciation for our natural environment. With the Y’s mission and close proximity to Chris’ hometown of Clearwater, Kan., the Foundation granted $3,000 to provide needs-based scholarships to area youth to attend summer camps.

Since 2010, the Foundation has given $13,000 to the Greater Wichita YMCA’s Camp Hyde to help young people experience the outdoors.
