Funded ProjectsProtecting the Environment’s Natural Beauty

July 30, 2015

Chris loved the time he spent in Crested Butte and was passionate about the need to retain green space in the Gunnison Valley. To support that effort, the Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Crested Butte Land Trust to help fund the long-term maintenance expenses of the Snodgrass Trail project.

This project ensures that 108 acres of aspen groves and wildflower fields along the eastern flank of Snodgrass Mountain will be preserved for perpetuity. Just a couple of years ago, this landscape was slated for development.

“The Snodgrass Trail is a beautiful natural amenity that provides spectacular mountain bike and horseback riding and hiking through fields and aspen groves,” Crested Butte Land Trust Executive Director Ann Johnston said. “It is fast becoming a favorite for many locals and visitors! Your gift will go a long way in helping us maintain this amazing resource that the Town of Mt. Crested Butte and so many other generous supporters helped us protect from development so that it could be enjoyed by all, forever.”

Over the life of the Foundation, $42,000 has been donated to the Crested Butte Land Trust.
