Funded ProjectsNew Equipment Opens Skiing Season Earlier for Valley Youth

March 6, 2016

With the help of new grooming equipment, the youth of Crested Butte will start skiing and training as early as possible in the sport they love. Because the Chris Mikesell Foundation supports efforts to provide opportunities for young people to experience nature, the Foundation awarded a $2,500 grant to The Crested Butte Nordic Council to purchase a grooming roller, perfect for prepping the trails after a light snow. Local youth, including students of Western State Colorado University, will benefit from the new equipment.

“We sincerely thank you for the Foundation’s ongoing support of Crested Butte Nordic and all our programs. With your help the past few years, we’ve had substantial growth in our youth programs, including our race team. It’s been an exciting progression,” said Keith Bauer, CB Nordic Director.

Over the years, the Foundation has awarded more than $8,000 in grants to the Crested Butte Nordic Council and Team.
