Funded ProjectsRiding horses therapy to people with disabilities

November 12, 2017

For someone with a physical, developmental or intellectual disability, interacting with horses can have a profound impact. In 2017, the Foundation gave Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center, located near Chris’ hometown in Wichita, Kan., a $500 grant to continue its work in helping people with disabilities to find strength and independence through the power of the horse.

Physically, it can improve balance, strength, range of motion and coordination. Using horses in therapy can also give the rider improved self-confidence and social skills while improving focus and motor skills.
