Funded ProjectsOutdoor Adventures Connect Kids to Wildlife, Nature

July 20, 2018

When kids spend time at Camp WaShunGa at Rock Springs Ranch in Junction City, Kan., they can’t help but fall in love with the outdoors. Mornings are spent traipsing the campgrounds alongside instructors, getting an up-close and hands-on learning experiencing about the local animals and plants. Afternoons are spent with more time learning about the area wildlife, skill development in archery and shooting sports, canoeing, swimming, and more. This week-long overnight camp helps kids develop a passion for the outdoors and the environment.

With a $1,300 grant to the Kansas Wildlife Federation, four kids attended the annual Outdoor Adventure Camp this year, bringing the Foundation’s total lifetime support for the program to nearly $7,000.

Because of Chris’ lifelong love and appreciation for nature, the Foundation focuses on not only preserving the environment, but also giving kids the opportunity to connect with nature through outdoor activities and education.
