Fueling Creativity and Imagination

The Montrose Children’s Museum is a nonprofit organization based in Montrose, Colorado, that aims to foster a creative and imagination-driven learning experience for both children and adults alike. The organization offers interactive play in a hands-on learning environment to inspire intellect, curiosity, and a passion for lifelong learning. By building a community-supported space where businesses can introduce their brands and missions through learning initiatives and play, the program hopes to forever connect children and families of the Western Slope.

Establishing a Passion for Lifelong Learning

In honor of Chris’ love for the outdoors and people, the Chris Mikesell Foundation assists organizations like the Montrose Children’s Museum that create opportunities for young people to experience nature. The program specifically helps the community by providing a diverse learning experience where children can access resources that allow them to indulge their inner creative, curious, and motivated selves. With assistance from generous donors and community members, the organization is able to continue promoting learning and development for children during their most pivotal and formative years of life.

Engaging in Real-World Experiences

With the $3,000 grant awarded by the Chris Mikesell Foundation, the Montrose Children’s Museum has created a dedicated fishing exhibit in honor of Chris’ love and passion for the outdoors. The exhibit has quickly become one of the organization’s most popular exhibits, as it allows kids to actively participate in an indoor fishing scenario. All tackle boxes and gear are provided, and fish-identifying sheets are available to help children determine which type of fish they catch!

  • “This money has been such a blessing, and the friendships and support that have come with it have been amazing...

We love having a community-supported and driven children’s museum and are so grateful for the Chris Mikesell Foundation! Thank you again!”
